一、新标准英语七上文化差异描述

1.打招呼的差异。在中国,打招呼是一种必不可少的社交形式。当遇到不熟悉的人,中国人往往就来个“点头之交”即可;对于很熟悉的朋友,用语就比较多样了。然而,在西方,这种方式会让他们感到很突兀,甚至不快。因为对于西方人来说,这些问题是有关他们的私生活的,而对于英美人来说,隐私是非常重要的。在西方,当他们遇到人不想多聊,只想简单的打个招呼的时候,他们经常就说“Hello”或根据不同的时间段说“Good morning!”“Good afternoon!”或“Good evening!”,这就等同于中国人的点头之交。如果遇到比较熟悉的人,他们会常用谈论近况来开启交际对话。

而对于谈近况这个话题,我们最熟悉的就是“How are you?”这个问句了。而这个话题出现在Starter Module1My teacher and my friends Unit2 Good morning. I’m Chen Zhong.这一课中出现。以前常听人批判中国的填鸭式英语教学的时候就喜欢用这个问句来做例子,中国的学生只会用“Fine,thank you.”来回答这个问题。但我发现最近的孩子并不会这样了,一组学生,我都问同一个问题,但是答案会比较丰富,例如:Just-so-so. Not bad. 等等。对于这点,我们应该感到欣慰。但我也发现了一个问题,很多学生也会停顿思考后才回答我这个问题,说明“ How are you?”这个问题对他们来说真的就是一个需要思考后回答的问题。但事实真是如此吗?其实西方人也是很喜欢用这句老套的问话来打招呼,事实上,他们大多时候所期待的都是“Fine,thank you.”这类标准的回答。其实“How are you? ”就像中国的“你吃了吗?”其实问的人也不一定要真想知道你吃没吃,中午吃什么了?这只是开始一段话的问候语。在历史悠久的中国,民族文化背负的东西很多,其实西方很多国家的人也不是那么容易快乐的。我们东方文化充满了消极宿命的色彩,面对“How are you?”就自然会有不同的回答。但是西方人倡导积极乐观的面对人生,所以不管他们心情多么糟糕,也基本都是用 “Fine,thank you.” 或“Pretty good” 来回答。所以,对于这个问题,其实没有对错,不同的情境和不同的文化也就营造出了不同的语境。

2.校园环境差异。新标准英语七上Module3 My school Unit There are thirty students in my class.(P14)中对话里:

Linda: Yes,it’s really big. There are thirty students in my class. How many students are there in your class in Beijing?

Daming: There are forty students,twenty girls and twenty boys.

从这里我们可以看出两人对这个“big”的差异。笔者发现两张图片里教室的桌椅都是一套套独立的,也就是说教室里的学生是没有同桌的。在中国,同桌是一种校园文化。对于我们的学生来说,同桌是他们人生的第一次实际的人际关系训练。然而在美国等西方国家,学生上课有必修和选修两种,学生要根据不同的课程去不同的教师上课,他们经常要跟不同的学生一起学习。而且不同的教室也有根据课程内容有多样化的布置,大部分的教室都是单桌或是适合他们小组活动的大张桌。因此,在西方学生的眼里是没有同桌的。

3.兴趣爱好差异。说到兴趣爱好,每个人都有自己的兴趣爱好,这个都是因人而异很难总结。所以笔者就结合自身的教学经历来谈谈这方面的差异。在新标准英语七上这册书中,与足球这项运动有关的图片和文字出处入下:

( 在这个例子中,Daming和Tony的最喜欢的运动都是足球,但我觉得他们的文化内涵是不一样的。考虑到两国的足球文化的差异,笔者认为Daming说喜欢足球,这可以理解为其个人的一种兴趣爱好,而Tony对足球的爱好则体现了一种普遍性。)

(2)P28 描述My school day: They go to the playground and play football (during the break).

P31 Around World: After school they go swimming,play football ...

(这两处都提到了学生的足球活动,对于英国的学生休息期间和放学后,最常见的运动之一就是踢足球了,而我们的学生基本上都是打乒乓球和篮球,这个差异我们从学生所写的作文My school day里很容易看出来。)

(3)P50 Choosing birthday presents一文中提到:

1. 第6页《走一步, 再走一步》第一自然段第二行:当时和我一起的五个小男孩, 因为玩弹子游戏玩厌了, 都想找些新的花样来玩。

分析:这个句子中“和我一起的五个小男孩”有歧义:一是包括我在内有五个小男孩, 二是除了我以外还有五个小男孩, 即共有六个小男孩。文中究竟有几个小男孩, 无法得知。

2. 第7页课下注释 (1) :[嶙峋]形容人瘦削。

分析:查《现代汉语词典》, “嶙峋”一词有三个义项: (1) 形容山石等突兀、重叠:怪石嶙峋|嶙峋的山峦。 (2) 形容人消瘦露骨:瘦骨嶙峋。 (3) 形容人刚正有骨气:气节嶙峋|傲骨嶙峋。所以课下注释 (1) 应改为:[嶙峋]这里形容人瘦削。类似的还有第32页注释 (3) , 因为“低回”一词有三个义项, 所以应改为:[低回]这里是留恋的意思。

3. 第39页《我的信念》第二自然段第一行:我注视着我的女儿们所养的蚕正在结茧, 这使我感兴趣。

分析:这个句子的后一个分句“这使我感兴趣”的主语“这”究竟指什么?按语法上来讲, “这”就是指代前一个分句, 即“我注视着我的女儿们所养的蚕正在结茧”, 这样显然是说不通的。所以要把后一分句作修改, 可在“这”后加上“些蚕”, 变成“这些蚕使我感兴趣”。或者删掉“这使”二字, 在“我”后加上“对这些蚕”, 变成“我对这些蚕感兴趣”。

4. 第54页研讨与练习二第一小题最后一个问题:“嫩嫩的, 绿绿的”本该用在“小草”前面, 为什么放在句末?

分析:这个问题本身设计得不科学。如果把“嫩嫩的, 绿绿的”用在“小草”前面, 原文就变成了:“嫩嫩的、绿绿的小草偷偷地从土里钻出来。”试问:小草在人们不知不觉中从土里使劲钻的过程中, 在破土而出之前“钻”的过程中, 人们怎可看见它是“绿绿的”?况且, 小草在钻出来之时, 也多是黄里带白的, 并不是“绿绿的”, 只是在钻出来之后, 经过春晖春雨的哺育才渐渐变得“绿绿的”。所以原文并无毛病, 问题中“本该”实质上是“本不该”, 这个问题应删掉。

5. 第93页《月亮上的足迹》第十四自然段最后两句话:“登月舱已经完成了它的历史使命, 将它带回地球是不合算的。于是, 它被甩在太空。”

分析:众所周知, 太空垃圾已经引起人类严重关切。哪怕是一颗小小的螺栓, 在太空中也以每秒10公里的速度飞速运行, 可能撞坏航天器或飞船, 也可能对正在太空行走或作业的宇航员造成致命的危险。所以, 美国这一做法是很不应该的。这两句话应改为:“由于当时对太空垃圾的危害性认识不足, 登月舱竟然被甩在了太空, 给人类留下了深深的遗憾。”

6. 第148页《女娲造人》最后一句:这样, 人类就世世代代绵延下来, 并且一天比一天加多了。

分析:这个句子中“并且一天比一天加多了”的主语是“人类”, 而人类是人的总称, 与数量无关, 世界总人数为100万时称人类, 达到60亿也称人类。所以不能说“人类一天比一天加多了”。原句应在“并且”后加上“人口总数”或“人口数量”或“人数”。

7. 第156页《盲孩子和他的影子》倒数第二自然段:人们说, 他们像一对孪生兄弟。

分析:先看课下注释 (1) [孪 (luán) 生] (两人) 同一胎出生。《现代汉语词典》注释还有:“通称双生”。既然“孪生”已有“两个、两人”之意, 那前面就没有必要加上“一对”了。如果加上“一对”, 反而显得重复啰嗦了。

历史这一学科涉及的内容是多方面的,它包括政治、经济、天文、地理、科学、文学等。所以对这一学科无论是老师的教还是学生的学都不是一件简单的事情。尤其对于刚刚进入中学的学生来说,历史这一门课程他们既陌生又熟悉。在小学阶段对于历史知识也了解了一些。面对这些初一的学生,历史这一门课程我们老师应该怎么教呢?怎样才能激发学生学习的兴趣呢?

初一的学生大多数都处于青春叛逆期,学生的独立性增强,希望有较多的民主。比如自己支配更多的钱和时间,而有些学生有时会错误地理解民主,并逐渐滋生叛逆心理,从而放松对自己的要求,他们希望独立、自由,有自己的空间,有些事情希望按照自己的意愿去做。再加上他们刚到一个新的环境,与新的老师和同学接触,这需要一段适应期。而且许多学生认为历史课枯燥无味,不喜欢上历史课,所以这门课对学生的吸引力并不大。那么怎么做才能让学生喜欢上历史课呢?

一、根据每节课不同的教学内容,安排不同的讲课方式

七年级历史上册第8课《中华文明的勃兴(一)》,这一节涉及的内容是比较广泛,包括先秦时期文字的演变、天文、历法、医学和音乐等方面的成就。因此我认为这一节课可以安排学生以小组为单位,从中选择感兴趣的一方面去收集相关的资料。然后在课堂上由小组的代表给大家讲述他们所了解的内容。最后再由老师进行归纳总结,使学生通过本节的学习能够了解我国古代劳动人所创造的辉煌文明。这样不仅调动了学生的学习兴趣,而且让学生亲身参与到教学中,更有利于学生对这部分历史知识的掌握。

又如第12课《大一统的汉朝》,这一节的重点内容就是汉武帝对汉朝的统治,为了激发学生的学习热情可以给大家看一些大屏幕《汉武大帝》的片段,加深学生的形象记忆,以此帮助学生更好地了解这一时期的历史。同时也可以加入讨论的形式。让学生根据自己对汉武帝的了解进行点评,并且让学生展开想象如果汉武帝没有实现大一统,那么中国的历史会怎样发展呢?这样不仅加深了学生对西汉历史的了解,锻炼了学生的口语表达能力,而且给学生搭建了一个自我展示的平台。

二、上课前老师要做充足的准备,尽量从学生的视角去讲解

从学生熟悉的内容进行教学更加有利于学生的理解和记忆。例如第18课《三国鼎立》,相信许多同学都对这一课的内容比较感兴趣。因为这一课的内容与他们所熟悉的《三国演义》的内容有关,因此学习这一节内容的时候老师可以在课前多了解一下学生对这部分的哪些人物比较熟悉或者是一些小故事,这样在上课的时候可以从调查的方向上去引导学生更好的学习。

三、抓住学科之间的渗透,吸引学生的学习兴趣

由于历史涉及的内容方方面面都有,所以老师可以抓住这一特点,从其他的学科上引入历史这一学科的学习。例如第9课《中华文明的勃兴(二)》这一节会学到关于春秋战国时期“百家争鸣”的局面,介绍这一时期著名的代表人物。那么在这里可以结合语文课上对《论语》十则的学习,学生对孔子的思想有了一定的了解,由此导入我想学生应该会比较容易接受。

那么对于初一的学生怎么才能学好历史呢?由于初中的学习要求与小学不一样,学习方法也就不同,对此许多学生很茫然不知道该怎么去学习。在此提出一些我的看法。最重要的就是利用好自己手中的教科书。对每一节的学习内容要根据小课题有所大致的了解,并在脑中形成一个知识框架。这样在老师讲课的时候不会摸不到头绪。然后不断地锻炼自己分析问题、归纳总结问题的能力。开始可以简单地进行练习,通过不断的学习提高自己的能力,最后形成适合自己的一套学习方法。
