利用阅读报纸夯实词汇基础

词汇是语言使用者在语言输入输出过程中频繁使用的,具有特定语义和结构并以固定或者半固定的形式存在的短语、国定搭配、习惯用语。由于记忆方法不当的原因,许多学生在学习词汇时往往停留在记忆某个词的拼写和中文意思上,在写作时无法准确表达。或者有的学生只停留在记忆简单的词汇上,使得文章苍白无力,表达不畅。笔者在教学中,根据教材中每单元的话题,帮助学生归纳报纸上的词汇,例如,在描述人物的性格特点时,报纸上提供了大量的正面形容词:friendly,honest,hu-morous,optimistic,helpful,active,ambi-tious,confident,considerate,反面的形容词:stubborn,selfish,cold-hearted等。描述专注的词汇:fOCUS 0n,pay attention to,fix…on等。一方面,便于学生记忆和积累,另一方面,丰富学生写作表达。

利用阅读报纸丰富句型结构

句子写得好与差直接影响到语篇的效果。《学生双语报》的B3版面的主要内容包括:长难句突破、核心句式精讲、经典句式模仿秀;B4版面提供了异曲同工(同义句转换)、“完美”句子、“译”彩纷呈等。笔者在对写作做铺垫时,会采用翻译、造句、扩句等形式来为写作做好准备。通常要求学生模仿经典句型,如定语从句、现在分词或过去分词作状语的句子、独立主格结构、强调句型等。

利用阅读报纸搭建篇章结构

一篇好的文章必须结构合理,文章段落层次清晰。以Module 6 Unit 4为例,本单元写作重点为描述正反观点的文章。笔者要求学生结合《学生双语报》B3版面提供的相关的例句,完成书面表达:人们对于学生网上交友持不同意見。《学生双语报》提供了下列句子:如:表示赞成的句子有:I agree because……;That sounds like a good idea;表示反对的句子有:I disagree because……:I’m sorrybut I don’t think that would workbecause……表示观点的句子:As faras I am concerned,……;Personally,Ithink……;另外,还提供了过渡词:however,on the other hand,连接词:besides,what’s more,last but not least,

利用阅读报纸突破语法难关

语法的准确性保证了写作顺利进行,词汇的时态语态、各种复杂句型的正确表达,都关系着写作能否得高分。《学生双语报》B1版是专项语法讲解及操练,在Grammarin use中,有各种语法的归纳、总结,易于学生识记和运用;在Grammar work中,让学生复习及巩同语法知识,检验学习效率。例如:Module 8Unit 3教材中Grammar部分为倒装句的学习,《学生双语报》的Bl版提供了倒装句型考点荟萃,分为五个部分,包含了常见的五种倒装句型,同时也提供了相应的练习。由于本单元写作的主题为Paying a visit a place,我提前让学生进入写作状态。通过类似的教学,学生在课堂上不仅巩固了语法知识,同时也为写作中使用优美的句型、正确的时态语态作保障,让学生在以后的写作中不仅不被扣分,而且还能得高分。

利用阅读报纸激活情感因素

一篇文章,只有高级的词汇、各种句型、段落布置合理还是不够完美,写作者的思想、情感更能烘托出文章的韵味。《学生双语报》A4版中的心灵驿站(Beautiful mind)提供了让人赏心悦目的文章,并且又加深底色部分建议诵读的句子,在写作中增加文章的文采。通过使用《学生双语报》,学生的知识面拓宽了,不拘泥于教材中的语言素材,更多地了解了文化背景知识。
