2008年5月20日，第十二届“外研社”全国大学生英语辩论赛在外研社国际会议中心举行。每次看完辩论赛都让笔者激动不已，联想到现今大学英语教学侧重交际、辩论、演讲能力训练，与英语辩论赛的要求不谋而合，如果将辩论赛应用于大学英语教学中，这种新型课堂教学模式必能有效促进大学英语教学。

本着这种精神，笔者在“外研社杯”辩论赛现场直播时，指导学生观看。学生看后反应颇为强烈，趁热打铁，我在学生中组织了一次辩论赛。首先，由学生自己确定题目，推举主席及正反主辩，主辩再自行结合三位助辩。因为是第一次，给学生一个星期时间准备，由我和部分学生担任评委。一个星期后，辩论赛正式开始。正方辩题：在校大学生创业利大于弊;反方：在校大学生创业弊大于利。30分钟的辩论似乎转瞬即逝，正反双方大展辩才，可由于知识有限，常出现理屈词穷的时候，有的听众激情难按，代为辩论，虽有违规章，却也增色不少。结束后，询问学生感受，学生自觉知识有待丰富，也理解了课外准备的重要性，同时觉得这种方式很好，若能很好地完成，对英语水平的提高不可同日而语，要求以这种方式进行大学英语教学。

抓住学生的心理特征，结合正在进行的教学内容，我给他们布置了课外阅读的任务。学生阅读了相关课外知识之后，深刻地理解了文章内容，有了自己的见解，又确定了一个辩论题目。正方：个人的命运是由个人掌握;反方：个人的命运是由社会掌握。双方的论点都比较有力，对辩论技巧的掌握较之前次熟练。这场辩论实力相当，双方都有没做好的地方，但这次辩论赛较第一次大有进步。辩论课的开展受到学生的欢迎，总体来说，有以下几方面的成效：

一、学生知识面扩大

进行一场成功的辩论赛，首先必须准备大量的必备材料。学生在老师的指导下进行有关资料的收集，这也是一个学习的过程。不过在选择辩论的题目时要注意选取难度适中的辩题，学生查找资料会方便些，论证资料充分些，积极性也更高些。

二、能力得到培养

首先是思维能力和口头表达能力得到了充分的锻炼。值得一提的是，学生的分析能力有了进一步提高。从一堂堂小小的辩赛中，笔者惊喜地发现，学生从分析事件、人物，阐述观点到思想升华，都有了明显的进步。

三、口语水平提高

如果说辩论的意义在于它能够使双方(甚至多方)在论争的过程中，突破自己思维和观察的局限，听到不同的声音，更好地认识客观世界，大家向着共同的目标奋进。那么英语辩论赛对增强学生英语运用能力以及改进外语教学都大有裨益，这使学生看到了英语学习不应该只停留在考级拿证，而是要实践运用。

四、与社会接轨

随着全球在政治、经济、文化和教育等领域的一体化进程的加速，人与人之间的交流开始从地区、国家扩展到不同大陆乃至全球。与此相适应，在外语教学中，发展学生的语言交际能力已被融入外语教学的目标之中。为了充分利用中国和西方外语教学的优势，有必要探求一条能将交际教学融入传统中国大学英语教学的教学方式，从而有效发展学生语言交际能力，而辩论赛则正好满足这个要求。学生在准备辩论期间，需要不断地调查、研究、比较、思考。学生也许不知道答案是什么，但是需要知道到哪里才能寻找到答案，而这个寻找准备的过程也会使学生的英语水平得到提高。培养学生英语语言交际能力既是学生本身的迫切愿望，也是社会发展对每一个英语学习者所提出的迫切要求。当然，这种英语教学模式的探求，需要广大中国外语教师的共同努力。

综上所述，“外研社杯”全国大学生英语辩论赛确实给人启迪，观看后把辩论赛引进课堂收到了较好的教学效果，能给学生以施展才能的机会。在这过程中，学生不但学到了丰富的知识，开阔了视野，更重要的是切实地提高了英语水平。总之，把辩论赛应用到大学英语教学，有利于提高学生的学习兴趣，有利于突破重点、难点，有利于培养学生的综合能力、提高学生整体素质，对于培养全方位人才具有积极的作用。

“外研社杯”全国英语辩论赛创始于1997年，每年举办一届，是目前国内规模最大、水平最高的英语口语赛事。 “外研社杯”全国大学生英语辩论赛由团中央学校部、全国学联、北京外国语大学主办，外语教学与研究出版社及中国教育电视台承办。历经十几年品牌积淀和不懈努力，“外研社杯”英语辩论赛的权威性、规模以及品牌影响力已被全国广大的英语教师及在校大学生所认可，在高校中享有盛誉。十几年来，已有累计1000余所高校精心培训选拔优秀人才组队参赛。

1997年至2001年，大赛初创时的规模仅限于邀请全国范围内的8支到16支高校代表队直接参赛，上海交通大学获得首届“外研社杯”冠军。此后的几年内，北京外国语大学、复旦大学和对外经济贸易大学分别夺得冠军殊荣。随着比赛名声的迅速扩大，越来越多的学校渴望加入“外研社杯”参赛。地区预赛制度应运而生。每年全国开设6个到8个赛区，每个赛区容纳12支队伍报名。如此一来，参赛名额明显增加，极大满足了高校英语学习者的需求，也鼓舞了大家的热情。

2005年，“外研社杯”大胆向国际化赛制迈出第一步，转制为全美大学生辩论赛的通用模式——美国议会制持续推广和培训，最终使广大英语学习者熟悉了赛制、磨练了语言、锻炼了思维。由此开始，被“外研社杯”赞助出国参赛的冠、亚、季军队伍，屡屡代表中国在各项国际和洲际辩论赛中获得大奖。比赛也同时走上了商业化合作的道路。卡西欧有限公司、剑桥大学出版社等高端品牌先后成为“外研社杯”的赞助单位。大赛为合作伙伴储备了优秀的人力资源，也将良好的企业形象植根于高校学子心中。

大赛影响

为使“外研社杯”辩论赛与“辩论界的奥林匹克”——世界大学生辩论赛制度接轨，2010年经过大规模的赛前培训，“外研社杯”更上一层楼，采用“四队辩论制”这一世界最先进的赛制。每轮英国议会制辩论比赛中有4支辩论队同场，每队2人。支持辩题的队伍称为“正方”，驳斥辩题的队伍称为“反方”。正、反两方分别由两支队伍构成，并分别发表开篇陈述和总结陈词。每一支队伍都需要与另3队进行竞争，最后决出第一名至第四名。至此，比赛的赛制和日程安排真正实现了国际化，并将长期保持下去。

2013年11月2日，第十七届“外研社杯”全国大学生英语辩论赛总决赛在外研社大兴国际会议中心打响最后决战。本届大赛历时5个月，全国6大赛区共有超过400所高校参赛。经过校选赛、地区赛、总决赛3个赛阶层层选拔，来自四川大学代表队的喻静、陈婧斩获桂冠，中山大学梁亿鹏、沈凌获得亚军，清华大学周小琪、魏洪浩、北京航空航天大学张秋雨、吴维皓获得季军。宋鸽、安贺喜、谢雅琪等7名同学获得“最佳辩手”称号。

共青团中央学校部部长陈光浩说：“外研社杯全国大学生英语辩论赛成功举办了17年，今年辩题扣时代脉搏、社会变革的热点话题，体现了时事性、政策性和人文性，引领青年学子关注‘家事，国事，天下事”。韩震则肯定了英辩赛中的“思辨”魅力，大赛将英语学习从狭隘的纯语言视野里解放出来，打开了思辨空间，激发批判性思考和创新精神。

一、活动背景：2010“外研社杯”英语演讲比赛在全国举行，我院承办这一比赛并选拔优秀人才参与云南省竞逐。

二、活动目的：通过这次演讲比赛，给同学们搭建提升自我的平台，提高对英语演讲的兴趣，锻炼英语沟通能力，以增强英语运用能力，并选拔优秀的英语演讲人才参加2010“外研社杯”全国英语演讲大赛。

三、活动主题：--is my top concern

四、活动时间： 报名时间：2010年9月14日至2010年9月19号

初赛：2010年9月26号

五、活动地点：云南民族大学校本部

六、活动对象：人文学院全日制本科、研究生

七、主办单位：人文学院团委学生会

九、活动安排：

一．活动前期：

1．制定比赛规则及评分细则。

2．比赛宣传：由承办方在主办方的指导下以多种方式对本次活动进行赛前宣传。9月14号通知大一大二大三各班班长（发放比赛细则），召开动员会议。15号分别在宣传栏张贴海报。

3． 报名方式：由各班班长统一收发报名表。（报名表见附录）4． 邀请评委及嘉宾，确定男女主持人各一名。

2.实行一对一跟踪，派遣干事跟进进入决赛的选手，保证选手对决赛的基本信息能无误掌握。

3.工作人员于2:00开始布置赛场，调试设备。参赛者于2:30前到达赛场。具体流程：

1.主持人介绍出席的嘉宾及评委团成员。2.主持人简述本次比赛主题及比赛规则。3.主持人介绍选手出场顺序，宣布比赛开始。

4．选手按顺序上台演讲，由评委据其综合表现打分，同时记分员统计分数，主持人

十、比赛要求：

1.演讲作品要求：体裁不限、主题鲜明、观点新颖、文字简洁，具有较强的创新性、欣赏性和时代性，有一定的理论高度，能正确反映此次英语比赛的主题。

2.表达形式新颖多样，有独创性，选手可以围绕主题畅谈自己的所见所闻，也可以根据个人思想，抒发自己的感想。

3.必须脱稿演讲（初赛可照稿），演讲过程中要求选手语言流畅、演讲技巧娴熟，具有较强的感染力。选手可以根据自己的需要在演讲过程中播放一些背景音乐。

4.时间限制：每位选手的演讲时间限时3分钟。

分语言能力、演讲内容、演讲技巧、脱稿及时间控制四部分对演讲选手进行评分。满分为10分。

1.语言能力：4分。从语音语调，口齿、语言流畅、语速、节奏感等方面对选手进行评分。

2.演讲内容：3分。要求演讲主题清晰、内容健康、措辞准确、文采优美，能结合实际，有独立见解。

PPT、服装、到场时间及演讲相关注

3.演讲技巧：2分。要求服装得体、表情自然、举止大方、能正确运用面部表情、手势和体姿，音调抑扬顿挫，能够吸引观众，具有艺术感染力。

4.脱稿及时间控制：1分。要求脱稿演讲，时间控制在3分钟内。

十二、评分细则：

1.去掉一个最高分，去掉一个最低分，取其余评委的平均分为选手最后得分。评委打分原则从70分起评，最后得分取小数点后两位，分数相同者取小数点后相应几位。

演讲比赛评分表

一、奖项设置：一个一等奖、两个二等奖、三个三等奖注意事项： 1.专设应急小组，处理音响、多媒体等一些易发生故障的器材。

2.如遇到观众扰乱赛场秩序，先进行警告，如继续无视赛场纪律，驱逐出场。3.选手演讲内容中禁止出现一些反党、言词激烈的内容，如遇此种情况出现，主持人对其进行警告，如继续进行，取消其参赛资格。

4.参赛选手必须提前十分钟到场，以便工作人员进行安排，如有问题请与承办方联系。5.活动过程要求参加人员自身要维护好现场秩序，保持全场安静，并要求把手机调到振动或关机状态。

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.My topic today is “Environment is my top concern”.When talking about Environment, what’s the first thing that has come to your mind? Is it the Copenhagen climate change conference, or the Gulf Oil Spill, or the leak of toxic sludge in Hungary？ Different people may have different answers.Let’s check out how serious the environmental situation is in the world.Recent years have seen an increasing number of reports on the extinction of species, soil erosion as well as air pollution.The history of industrialization and urbanization has been a history of declining environmental quality.We may be satisfied with our so called modern life, but please do not turn a blind eye to what’s happened around us.Water is polluted.Animals are killed.Resources are devoured.And farmlands turn into desserts.Ladies and gentlemen, this is the world we now live in.It’s not a wonderland.It’s not a safe haven.It’s a planet damaged by human beings and the situation is getting even worse.We need to change.We need to do something about it.We need to shoulder our responsibility.Otherwise, the end of world may come just as the film 2012 showed us.Now is the moment;Now is the time;Now is the only chance we can have to save our world.Then you may ask “what can we do”?
