人称指示现象普遍使用于各种语言中，但其用法及功能却不尽不同。目前对其已有从词汇语法角度、文体分析角度、社会语境角度和系统功能语言学这四个角度做出的研究。本文则试图在前人研究基础上，借鉴语用学及社会语言学的相关知识来阐释英语励志演讲中第一人称复数指示语we的活用现象。

一、英语励志演讲中的复数第一人称指示语探微

在英语励志演讲中第一人称代词单复数形式的使用有其独特的语用功能，并常常隐含着说话者与听话者之间微妙的人际关系。诚如陈辉指出的说话者在人际交往过程中往往站在不同的视角，根据与听话者的亲疏关系及地位关系进行称谓选择，以突显出称谓背后的语用涵义。

本文对英语励志演讲中第一人称复数指示语的研究分为两大类，即确指和虚指。确指指的是复数第一人称代词使用的固定性一面，在大多数情况下都是来确定指代包括说话人在内的一群人。虚指指的是确指以外的其他灵活用法，主要是依据上下文语境及人际关系而定，通常指代不特定的人或某些组织等。在英语中甚至还可用来指代说话对象也即第二人称。

1.英语励志演讲中复数第一人称代词的确指。根据有其所指范围的大小，英语励志演讲中的复数第一人称代词的确指，可归纳为三个小类别。

（1） 用于包含第一人称单复数和第二人称单复数在内的确定群体。

例1： “…I believe that we have a righteous wind at our backs and that as we stand on the crossroads of history，we can make the right choices，and meet the challenges that face us…”

“…我相信我们深厚有正义之风，我相信今天的我们就站在历史的十字路口，我们可以做出正确的选择，迎接面前的挑战…”

在这里，奥巴马总统在感谢上苍赐予他们最好的礼物的同时，他们相信最好的东西尚未出现，更好的日子就在明天。这里，用了代词we，这个we不仅包括了他自己，也包含了听话者在内，这是一个典型的确指。

（2）用来指代包括第一人称单数和除第二人称外的一个或多个第三人称在内的群体。

例2： “…This year，in this election，we are called to reaffirm our values and commitments，to hold them against a hard reality and see how we are measuring up，to the legacy of our forbearers，and the promise of future generations.And fellow Americans - Democrats，Republicans，and Independents - I say to you tonight： we have more work to do…”

“…在今年的大选中，我们民主党特别重申了我们主张的价值和承诺，以此来应对当下的艰难现实，并更好的秉承前辈的遗产，实现对子孙的承诺。诸位美国同胞们，无论你是民主党人，还是共和党人，抑或是无党派人士，今晚我想对大家说的是：我们需要做的事情还有很多…”

这里参加会议的有各党派人士，所以这里的“我们”是不全部包含听者在内的。但其隐含说话者及其他的一类群体。

（3）用来指包括第一人称单数和第二人称及第三人称单复数在内的群体

例3： “...Our pride is based on a very simple premise，summed up in a declaration made over two hundred years ago，"We hold these truths to he self-evident，that all men are created equal.That they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.That among these is life，liberty and the pursuit of happiness…”

“…我們的自豪和荣耀来自于一个非常简单的前提，两百多年前，它在一个著名的宣言中得到了高度的概括：“我们坚信以下真理不言而喻：人人生而平等，造物者赐予他们某些不可被削夺得权利，比如生命，自由，和对幸福的追求。”

这里引用了一则宣言，通过联系上下文可发现，原文中的we 既包含了该话轮中说话者、听话者，也囊括了所有不在场的第三者。

2.英语励志演讲中复数第一人称代词的虚指。相对于确指，虚指用法也有以下三种类型：

（1）第一人称复数we指代说话者I。在英语励志演讲中我们经常能读到某些政治人物用复数第一人称we 来指代单数I 这种语言现象，当然这种现象的产生是有其语用含义及社会语境含义的，不仅可以表示说话者的谦逊、亲切，又可拉近说话者与听话者之间的距离，在特殊的语境下，指示语可以被赋予特殊含义。

例4：“ …Now we are engaged in a great civil war testing whether that nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure...shall not perish from the earth…”

“…当前，我们正在进行一次伟大的内战，我们在考验，究竟这个国家，或任何一个有这种主张和献身精神的国家，是否能长久存在…不致从地球上消失。”

在演说中人称代词we的使用具有较高的描述价值，其出现频率颇高，仅在所选的段落中就出现了9次，we在此语篇中有其深刻的语用目的性，表明Lincoln通过使用we降低自己的身份和地位以增加语言的说服力或将自己归于听话人之列以增加语言的亲和力，把自己和民众为挽救国家这一共同目标紧紧地联系在了一起，如果用I无疑是把自己推上一个权威者或领导者的地位从而与人民隔离开来，而we的使用是演说取得成功的语用策略之一。

随着社会的沿革，we 在指自己时就带有一种权威的色彩，其人际功能表现为与听话人的关系疏远也就不难理解了。英国首相Thatcher的儿媳妇要生产时，在今唐宁街十号的台阶上曾讲“We are a grandmother.”，这种用法排除听者，专指自己。Thatcher在谈论自己个人的事情时使用we 引起公众反感，这是因为we 表示出“权威”的功能，Thatcher 虽然说的是事实，但用这个we复数代词形式指称自己使得她与公众的关系疏远了。Lakoff评论此问题时指出，we的这种用法寓意在于： 不仅我自己这样说，我们都这样说，所以你最好相信。

（2）第一人称复数活用为第二人称。第一人称复数还可用来指代第二人称，即不包含说话者，专指听话者。通常情况下，复数第一人称的活用有其特殊含义，为了达到某种交际目的，说话者采取该手段以实施一定的言语行为。何自然、冉永平将这种人称代词活用现象归纳为移情。

例5： “…if we do what we must do，then I have no doubt that all across the country，from Florida to Oregon，from Washington to Maine，the people will rise up in November…”

“…如果我们都能行动起来，做我们应该做的事，那么我相信，从佛罗里达到俄勒冈，从华盛顿到缅因州，全国人民将会在11月积极行动起来…”

奥巴马为了鼓舞大家积极行动的士气，故意在说话时把自己摆到听话人一边，听起来特别有亲切感，还带有劝说的语用效果。向亲密、谦逊方向过渡，以此增加双方的共同点，缩短双方的心理距离。

（3）“let’s”用法及含义。在英语中let us 和let’s用法的不同可以通过反义疑问句的形式来体现，let us是will you，而let’s通常是shall we。故前者通常不包含说话者在内，而后者包含说话者和听话者双方，当然这也要结合具体的情景语境加以判断。

夸克等人合著的《当代英语语法》中的解释说，let’s 在非常通俗的口语中有时可用单数，这就是说它可以不包括谈话的对方即听话者，意为“让我”，相当于“let me”。因此，究竟是we–exclusive 还是we–inclusive 的用法要视具体语境而定。

例6：“… Let us not wallow in the valley of despair，I say to you today，my friends.And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow，I still have a dream.It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream…”

“…朋友们，今天我要对你们说，千万不要沉沦在绝望的深谷里。尽管眼下困难重重，但我依然怀有一个梦想。这个梦想深深根植于美国梦之中…”

例7：“…Tonight is a particular honor for me because，let's face it，my presence on this stage is pretty unlikely…”

例6中，let us 是马丁.路德金对黑人同胞们说的所说，当然排除了他自己在内，这种用法則属于we–exclusive 的性质，排除了听话者的用法。例7中，let’s 既包括说话者，也包括听话者在内，因此属于we–inclusive的范围。

2015年，李康宇写下101个目标，其中有一个就是成为励志演讲家，还有一个是靠自己打拼赚钱让妻子住上大房子。2016年，这两个目标都实现了。

“织女下凡”爱恋“向日葵”

2013年8月8日，在河北唐山市丰南区柳树圈镇，一场特殊的跨国婚恋引起了轰动。新郎叫李康宇，瘫痪在床31年，新娘叫颜淑英，来自吉隆坡。他们第一次见面定下了婚约，第三次见面结婚，历时1年的拉锯战，最终抵不过两人对爱的坚守。

李康宇1975年出生，唐山大地震后，阴雨绵绵，搭建的帐篷里阴冷潮湿，没有暖和的被褥。1岁多的李康宇在这样的环境里待了两年，身体免疫力急剧下降，又缺乏营养，经常发烧，夜里常常哭醒。父母带着李康宇到全国各地医院，都检查不出结果。5岁时，李康宇突然就不能走路了。他长期大量服用止疼药，开始尿血和吐血，连续吐了7天，当所有人都不抱希望时，李康宇却起死回生。从7岁开始，李康宇就再也没有像健全人一样站起来看看外面的世界，只能躺在那张只有1米宽的小床上。

不能上学，李康宇依靠50多本图画书的陪伴，依然获得了快乐。通过“一日一字”、电视字幕等，李康宇跟新闻联播主持人学普通话，并学会上网和QQ聊天。父母相继离世，李康宇面临着两个选择，要么放弃自己的生命离开这个世界，要么坚强地活下去。就在李康宇彻底绝望的时候，“织女下凡”来到了李康宇的身边。

2011年6月19日晚，远在马来西亚的颜淑英正坐在电脑前上网，突然一个陌生的QQ号蹦出来要加她为好友。颜淑英正要拒绝，却被这个叫“向日葵”的网友的QQ签名吸引了：“只要有一口水不渴死，只要有一口饭不饿死，就要坚持活下去！”颜淑英想：“这个人一定有着不同寻常的经历和故事。”出于好奇，颜淑英加李康宇为好友了。

通过QQ空间，颜淑英惊讶地发现，李康宇一天学都没有上过，竟然已经在很多杂志发表了几万字的作品。他全身关节坏死，身体僵硬，跟她聊天和发表文章，竟然都是通过手握手机的方式，用左手拇指一个字一个字打出来的。在QQ相册里，颜淑英还看到骨瘦如柴的李康宇平躺在床上。让颜淑英更诧异的是李康宇的普通话说得非常好，一个从没上过学的男人竟然知识广博，不管颜淑英说天文地理还是风土人情，李康宇都能对答如流。这个学习力、生命力如此顽强的男人让颜淑英刮目相看。

颜淑英关心地问：“你需不需要帮助？我想出一点微薄之力帮助你。如果你现在不需要帮助的话，我希望以后你需要时就跟我直说，我会尽我所能去帮助你。”李康宇被颜淑英的善良所感动，他越来越觉得这个女孩子与众不同。

颜淑英1978年出生在马来西亚吉隆坡，爷爷来自福建。大学毕业后，颜淑英进入当地慈善机构从事公益工作。她从小热爱中国文化，自幼便在华语学校读书。她对李康宇说：“你长我3岁，我以后叫你哥哥吧。”

经过交流，颜淑英发现李康宇有一颗善良温暖的心，两个月后，她发觉自己竟然爱上了李康宇。两个年轻人的心慢慢靠近，他们在网络中确立了恋爱关系。李康宇说：“我连一个拥抱都不能给你。”颜淑英说：“那我拥抱你。”

2011年11月19日，颜淑英专程来到河北见李康宇。她没敢告诉妈妈李康宇的真实情况，就说挺好的，已经订婚了。妈妈不放心，特意和颜淑英的哥哥从马来西亚飞到河北。见了李康宇后，妈妈一天都没有说话。哥哥看见李康宇自己吃饭，自己喝水，自己用电脑打字上网，感到很不可思议，他对颜淑英说：“妹妹，这条路很苦，你要坚持走下去吗？”颜淑英说：“是的，我坚持要跟康宇一起。”哥哥没多说话，站起来拍拍颜淑英的肩膀。回到马来西亚，哥哥劝妈妈接受这个现实。

夫妻同心演绎精彩

走入婚姻后，颜淑英每天给李康宇洗脸，刷牙，擦身体，接大小便，换衣服，从来都没有离开过李康宇。颜淑英出去买菜时间久一点，李康宇就惦记、牵挂着：“淑英，你是我身上的一块肉，你不在的时候，我会感觉身上那块肉不见了。你不在，我就没有了主心骨，没有了依靠。” 颜淑英又何尝不是，她对李康宇说：“你不在我身边，我觉得心里少点东西，空空的，很不习惯。”

李康宇和颜淑英的爱情故事引起社会强烈关注。在湖北卫视“大王小王”栏目录制结束后，主持人将一个大信封交给他们，是慈善家李春平先生给他们日后经营淘宝网店的5000元善款。主持人还为他们的网店取好了名字——唐山爱上吉隆坡。

淘宝网店开张当日，不少顾客送上祝福，祝他们恩爱永远。李康宇对妻子说：“这个网店是我们爱情的见证。是大家的关爱让我们的生活能够持续下去，我们一定做值得帮助的人，把爱心传递下去。”

有一天，上海超越极限集团公司给李康宇打来电话：“李先生，你想不想走出家门？如果你愿意走出家门，我们会帮助你。你知道吗？你的生命是可以激励别人的。你不但创造了生命奇迹，还创造了爱情奇迹。假如你走出来，会鼓励、激励很多的人，使他们勇敢地面对生活，改变命运。”李康宇听完，蒙了。长这么大，他从没离开过家。颜淑英鼓励他：“以前你是一个人在战斗，今后不是有我嘛！要不，咱试试？”李康宇慎重思考3天后，终于决定前往上海。

他们打算坐飞机到上海，咨询航空公司得知，李康宇必须在起飞前72小时到三甲医院体检，如果体检没有问题，才可以上飞机。而且，还要看飞机当天有没有空位，因为他只能躺着，需要拆掉一排的3张椅子。最终，李康宇安全抵达上海。当天演讲现场有600多人，李康宇紧张得心都要跳出来了。颜淑英笑着鼓励他：“康宇，你是最棒的。即使所有人都怀疑你，在我心中，你依然是最棒的。何况，经过与外界接触，你也知道了，还是支持和鼓励我们的人多。让我永远跟你在一起，同甘共苦，面对人生。”一股暖流涌上李康宇心头。

李康宇终于来到了讲台上。颜淑英也在众目睽睽下说：“在别人眼中，李康宇没有价值，但是在我心中却是一颗钻石。过去，他是一颗被埋藏起来的钻石，没有人发现他的光芒，看不懂他的价值。我非常感恩能认识康宇，我看懂了他的价值。我担心如果我不赶紧和他在一起，会有其他人抢走他……”虽然李康宇讲得磕磕巴巴，但是他们依然得到了热烈的掌声。结束演讲后，他对颜淑英说：“当时如果我是站着的话，就倒下了，幸亏是躺着。要不是你给我勇气，我真的很难面对这么多人。我当时就想，连你都不介意我，即使在别人的嘲笑和质疑下，你都一如既往地微笑，我更应该对自己有勇气！”

李康宇无论如何也没想到，这次上海之行，彻底改变了他的人生轨迹。演讲，让他在今后的人生中找回了尊严和自信。李康宇内心的格局被放大，他逐步懂得了一个道理：“永远别说‘不可能'，凡事都有‘可能'。”

为了激励李康宇，颜淑英特意从马来西亚买了一本力克·胡哲的书，作为生日礼物送给丈夫。这本书对李康宇的触动非常大。他对颜淑英说：“我想超越自我，超越极限，用我的方式有所创造。你是第一个让我认识他的人，我希望在亲朋好友和企业的帮助下，我也能够做到他这一点。这是我想为你做的事情。”

走在路上一起幸福

李康宇其实是个浪漫的人。在一次讲演现场，他表达了自己对颜淑英的爱——给颜淑英唱《最远的你是我最近的爱》：风雨之后，无所谓拥有，萍水相逢，你却给我那么多;你挡住寒冬，温暖只保留给我，风霜寂寞，凋落在你的怀中……李康宇唱完，颜淑英开玩笑地说：“男人看了你，就会妒忌你;女人看了我，就会很羡慕，羡慕我有个像李康宇这样体贴温柔的丈夫。”

一天，颜淑英刚洗完头，准备拿起吹风机吹头发。李康宇说：“淑英，这件事你就交给我吧，来，我帮你吹。”颜淑英就把头伸过去让他吹，一边享受一边说：“老公，你很浪漫，也很细心，我感觉自己很幸福。每天和你一起吃饭，看电视节目，看书……有你在身边，我就会感到很幸福。你知道吗？不是每对夫妻都能像我们一样一直在一起的。我真的谢谢你！”李康宇听完，感动地流下了眼泪。

李康宇的柔情似水，颜淑英的坚强果敢，赢得了人们的赞誉。尤其在演讲上，他们有了很大的突破。目前，夫妇俩全国演讲已经超过60场，演讲时间最短的是30分钟，最长3个小时。这对于一个高位截瘫患者来说，简直就是奇迹。

为了影响更多人，颜淑英流着泪陪伴李康宇完成出版了第一本书。为了可以改变更多人的命运，在颜淑英的搀扶下，李康宇现在不仅在全国各地演讲，还给自己制订了101个目标：他要环游世界，要买大房子，要成为畅销书作家和演说家……李康宇说：“我只要不放弃生命，就一定可以创造生命的奇迹。我决定让我接下来的人生幸福得‘不像话’，我要努力让我的故事流传到世界的每一个角落。让更多的人知道我，记住我，用我的故事激励他们穿越人生中的各种障碍，实现心中渴望已久的目标！”

现在，李康宇和妻子依靠演讲收入，在唐山市区买了120平方米的大房子。他们还设立了“康宇奇迹基金”，坚持做慈善，让更多的人感受到爱和温暖。梦想正慢慢变为现实。

李康宇告诉笔者：“过去，我是靠政府的低保金生活，现在我不仅可以靠自己一双手操控电脑，开淘宝店铺维持生活，接下来，我还会通过公众演说来养活我的妻子和更多梦想……”颜淑英还学会了唱《爱拼才会赢》。她经常充满感情地为丈夫演唱：“无魂有体真像稻草人，人生可比是海上的波浪，三分天注定，七分靠打拼，爱拼才会赢。”

2016年9月，他们又要出发了。每一次出门，颜淑英都会带上三四个行李包，里面装满了衣服、食物、水和个人用品。李康宇看着她一个人提着大包小包四处奔波，既心疼又感恩。

李康宇对颜淑英说：“老婆，你从小生活在大都市，没想到你一过门，就成了家庭主妇。你不觉得你像降职了，而且还是连降几级，一直降到我这样的生活，降到这么小的范围……”颜淑英搂着李康宇的脖子，笑着说：“我不觉得啊，你就把我想象成退休了，过清闲享福的日子吧。”两个人轻轻相拥，形成一个合二为一的爱的世界。

We can take the mysterious, hazy future and carve out of it anything thatwe can imagine, just like a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.

We are all in the position of the farmer. If we plant a good seed, we reapa good harvest. If our seed is poor and full of weeds, we reap a useless crop.If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

I want the future to be better than the past. I don’t want it contaminatedby the mistakes and errors with which history is filled. We should all beconcerned about the future because that is where we will spend the reminder ofour lives.

The past is gone and static. Nothing we can do will change it. The futureis before us and dynamic. Everything we do will effect it.

Everything about my future was ambiguously assumed. I would get into debtby going to college，then I would be forced to get a job to pay off that debt，while still getting into more and more debt by buying a house and a car. Itseemed like a never—ending cycle that had no place for the possibility of adream.

I want more—but not necessarily in the material sense of personal wealthand success. I want more out of life. I want a passion，a conceptual dream thatwouldn’t let me sleep out of pure excitement. I want to spring out of bed in themorning，rain or shine，and have that zest for life that seemed so intrinsic inearly childhood.

Failing is what makes us grow，it makes us stronger and more resilient tothe aspects of life we have no control over. The fear of failure，although，iswhat makes us stagnant and sad. So even though I couldn’t see the future asclearly as before，I took the plunge in hopes that in the depths of fear andfailure，I would come out feeling more alive than ever before.
